Hey there 🔒 We get it, most privacy policies read like they were translated from English to Legalese and back again. We tried to make ours actually useful.
Here's the deal: we respect your data, we only collect what we need to do our work well, we never sell it, and we tell you exactly where it goes. If you ever want to know what we have on you or want us to delete it just ask.
The rest of this page is the full story. Grab a coffee ☕.
01. Who we are
TL;DR — Sukudo Studios is the data controller. We're based in New Delhi and decide how your data is used.
This Privacy Policy is issued by Sukudo Studios ("we," "us," or "our") — a dubbing and localization studio headquartered in New Delhi, India. We operate sukudostudios.com and provide dubbing, voiceover, subtitling, localization, and related creative services to clients worldwide.
For the purposes of applicable data protection laws — including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) — Sukudo Studios is the "Data Fiduciary" or "Controller" of the personal data described in this policy.
02. Who this applies to
This policy applies to:
Visitors to sukudostudios.com and any subdomains;
Clients, prospective clients, and anyone who fills out a quote, contact, or enquiry form;
Voice artists, freelancers, and talent engaged by us or who apply to join our talent pool;
Job applicants and candidates for positions at Sukudo Studios;
Vendors, suppliers, and partners we work with; and
Anyone who otherwise interacts with us by email, phone, or social media.
If you're a current employee, your data is handled under our separate internal staff privacy policy.
03. Quick glossary
Personal data — any info that identifies you directly (like your name or email) or indirectly (like an IP address combined with browsing data).
Processing — basically anything we do with your data: collecting, storing, using, sharing, deleting.
Data Principal / Data Subject — you, the person whose data we're handling.
Data Fiduciary / Controller — Sukudo Studios, when we decide how your data is used.
Data Processor — a third party (like our cloud hosting provider) that processes data on our behalf under our instructions.
04. What we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect the following:
Information you give us directly
Contact details — name, email, phone, company name, country, job title.
Project info — details of the content you want dubbed/localized, languages, timelines, budget range, source files you share with us.
Voice artist profiles — demo reels, voice samples, resume, language capabilities, availability, rates, photo/headshot, union status, tax/payment info.
Communications — anything you send us via email, phone, contact forms, WhatsApp, or social DMs.
Payment info — bank details, invoice data, GSTIN or tax IDs (processed by our payment and accounting providers — we don't store full card numbers on our servers).
Testimonials & feedback — if you voluntarily give us a review or case-study quote.
Information collected automatically
Device & browsing data — IP address, browser type, operating system, device type, referring URLs, pages viewed, time on page.
Cookies & similar tech — see our Cookie Policy for the full breakdown.
Approximate location — derived from your IP address (usually just city/country), so we can show the right language or regional content.
Marketing analytics — which of our posts or campaigns led you to us, which pages you viewed, whether you converted on a form.
Information from other sources
Publicly available sources — LinkedIn, company websites, industry directories (e.g., to verify a business contact).
Referrals & partners — if a mutual contact introduces us or a talent agency submits an artist's profile.
Analytics & ad platforms — aggregated insights from Google, Meta, LinkedIn about our audience.
We don't ask for sensitive personal data (health, religion, political views, biometrics) unless it's genuinely necessary — and we'll tell you why if we do. Voice samples used for voice-cloning or AI voice work are handled under Section 9.
05. How we collect it
We collect data when you:
Submit a form on our website (quote request, contact form, newsletter sign-up, talent submission).
Email or call us, or reach out on LinkedIn, Instagram, X, or YouTube.
Sign a Project Agreement, NDA, or onboarding document with us.
Attend an industry event or meeting we're at.
Simply browse our website (that's the cookies bit).
06. Why we collect it
We only use personal data for clearly defined purposes:
To deliver our services — producing dubs, localizations, voiceovers, subtitles for you.
To respond to enquiries — answering quote requests, contact forms, general questions.
To manage accounts & invoicing — contracts, payments, receipts, tax compliance.
To cast & manage voice talent — matching artists to projects, scheduling, payments.
To recruit — reviewing job applications and running interviews.
To improve our website & service — understanding which pages are useful, fixing bugs, A/B testing.
To send marketing & updates — only where you've opted in, and always with an easy unsubscribe.
To prevent fraud and protect our systems — spam detection, security monitoring.
To comply with law — tax, accounting, responding to valid legal requests.
To showcase our work — with your permission, featuring projects in our portfolio.
07. Legal basis for processing
Under laws like GDPR and the DPDP Act, we need a valid legal basis before processing your data. Ours is usually one of:
Contract — we need the data to deliver a service you've asked for (e.g., completing your dubbing project).
Consent — you've given us explicit permission (e.g., marketing emails, optional cookies, voice-cloning work).
Legitimate interest — we have a reasonable business need that doesn't override your rights (e.g., analytics to improve the site, fraud prevention).
Legal obligation — we're required to process it by law (e.g., invoices for tax records).
For each activity, we can tell you exactly which basis applies — just ask.
08. Voice artists & talent data
TL;DR — If you're on our talent roster, we treat your data like the tool of your trade: carefully.
If you're a voice artist working with us (whether via a direct contract, agency, or freelance submission), we collect and use data specific to talent management — your voice samples, demos, language skills, union memberships, tax documentation, and payment details.
We use this data to match you with relevant projects, share your profile with clients (with your consent where required), schedule sessions, process payments, and comply with tax and labour law. We retain casting and session data for the duration of our working relationship and for a reasonable period afterwards to honour potential residuals, re-bookings, and legal obligations.
You always have the right to update your profile, withdraw from our active roster, or ask for your data to be deleted (subject to our legal retention needs).
09. AI, voice data & training
TL;DR — We don't train AI on your voice without explicit, specific consent. Ever.
The dubbing industry is being reshaped by AI, and we take this seriously. Our approach:
We do not use voice recordings from client projects or talent auditions to train AI models, unless we have an explicit, written, specific agreement covering that exact use — with fair compensation and clearly defined scope.
When we use AI-powered tools (e.g., for translation drafts, voice cleanup, or lip-sync assistance), we choose vendors with contractual guarantees that our inputs are not used to train their public models.
Where a project involves AI-generated or synthetic voices, we only proceed where we hold appropriate consents and rights. We won't clone or synthesise any voice — real person, celebrity, or otherwise — without verifiable proof of rights.
We keep a clear internal log of which tools process which data, so we can answer your questions transparently.
10. Children's privacy
Our services and website are not directed at children under 18, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from minors. If a project involves a child voice artist, we work exclusively through their parent, legal guardian, or agency, with appropriate consents and compliance with child-labour and protection laws in the relevant jurisdiction.
If you believe a child has provided us with personal data without parental consent, please email us and we'll delete it promptly.
11. Who we share with
We don't sell your personal data. We share it only when necessary, with the following categories of recipients:
Service providers we rely on — cloud hosting (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud), email platforms, CRM, accounting software, payment processors, file-transfer tools, analytics providers. Each is bound by a data-processing agreement and uses your data only on our instructions.
Voice talent and freelancers — when needed to deliver your project (e.g., a translator needs your script, an artist needs the brief).
Clients — if you're a voice artist being pitched for a project, your profile may be shared with the relevant client, with consent where required.
Professional advisors — lawyers, auditors, accountants, bound by confidentiality.
Law enforcement or regulators — when we're legally required to, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
In a business transaction — if we ever merge, get acquired, or restructure, data may be transferred to the new entity. We'll notify you if this materially changes how your data is handled.
12. International transfers
We're based in India, but our clients and service providers are everywhere. Your data may be transferred to, stored in, or accessed from countries outside your own, including the United States, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and various countries across Asia.
When we transfer personal data across borders, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place — such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), UK IDTA, adequacy decisions, or equivalent mechanisms under the DPDP Act once notified. If you'd like more detail on the specific safeguard used for your data, just ask.
13. How long we keep data
We keep personal data only as long as we need it — based on purpose, legal obligations, and a reasonable buffer for disputes or audits. Here's a rough guide:
Data typeRetentionWebsite contact form submissions (no project followed)12 months from last contactClient project records, contracts, deliverables7 years after project completion (for tax, audit, and IP reasons)Invoices and accounting records8 years (per Indian tax/accounting requirements)Voice artist profiles (active roster)For as long as you remain on our roster + 2 yearsJob applicant data (unsuccessful)12 months (with consent for future roles), else deletedMarketing email subscribersUntil you unsubscribe + a short buffer to honour the opt-outAnalytics & cookie dataAs defined in our Cookie Policy (max 26 months for GA4)
After the retention period, we either delete the data or anonymise it so it can't be linked back to you.
14. How we keep it safe
We take data security seriously. Our safeguards include:
Encrypted storage and TLS/HTTPS for data in transit.
Access controls — only team members who need to see your data can access it.
Secure file-transfer tools for confidential Source Material (no random email attachments for unreleased content).
NDAs with all employees, contractors, and voice talent handling sensitive projects.
Regular security reviews of our tools, hosting providers, and workflows.
Backup and disaster-recovery procedures to prevent data loss.
No system is 100% secure, but we work hard to minimise risk. If something does go wrong, see Section 19 on data breaches.
15. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have a set of rights over your personal data. We honour these rights under applicable laws — DPDP Act (India), GDPR (EU/UK), CCPA/CPRA (California), and others.
👁 Right to access
Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
✏️ Right to correct
Fix inaccurate or incomplete data.
🗑 Right to erase
Ask us to delete your data (with some legal exceptions).
⏸Right to restrict
Pause our use of your data while you raise a concern.
📦Right to portability
Get your data in a portable, machine-readable format.
🚫Right to object
Object to processing based on legitimate interests or for marketing.
🔙Right to withdraw consent
Change your mind any time where consent was the legal basis.
⚖️Right to complain
File a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
California residents: under CCPA/CPRA, you additionally have the right to know what categories we collect, sell, or share (we don't sell), and the right to opt out of sale/sharing. We treat Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as a valid opt-out.
16. How to exercise your rights
To exercise any right above, email us at business@sukudostudios.com with the subject line "Privacy Request." Please include:
Your name and the email/phone you normally use to interact with us;
Which right you'd like to exercise;
Any specific details that help us find your data.
We may need to verify your identity before acting on the request (to make sure we're not handing your data to an imposter). We'll respond within thirty (30) days — or sooner where the law requires. This service is free unless your request is excessive or repetitive, in which case we may charge a reasonable fee or decline, and will explain why.
17. Cookies & tracking
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies (pixels, tags, local storage) for essential functions, preferences, analytics, and marketing. You control which optional cookies run, via our cookie banner and settings.
For the full breakdown — what we use, why, and how to manage it — see our Cookie Policy.
18. Marketing & communications
If you sign up for our newsletter, submit a contact form, or become a client, we may occasionally send you marketing emails about our services, new capabilities, industry insights, or events. Every marketing email has a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can also email us to opt out.
Unsubscribing from marketing doesn't affect essential transactional emails (like invoices, project updates, or service notices) — you'll still get those as long as you're working with us.
19. Data breaches
If a breach ever occurs that's likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms, we'll notify you and the relevant regulator without undue delay — typically within 72 hours of becoming aware, in line with GDPR and the DPDP Act. Our incident-response plan covers investigation, containment, communication, and remediation.
20. Third-party links
Our website and emails may link to third-party sites (clients, social platforms, partner tools). We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their privacy practices. Always read their privacy notice before sharing your data with them.
21. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time — when our services change, when we add new tools, or when privacy laws evolve. The "Last updated" date at the top will always reflect the current version. For material changes, we'll give you prominent notice (banner on the site or email, where we have your address) and, where required, ask for fresh consent.
22. Grievance Officer
In line with India's Information Technology Rules and the DPDP Act, we've designated a Grievance Officer to handle privacy-related complaints and data-subject requests.
